Our History

2005

~ Production starts at Motherwell site

~ Investment of £17 million. Capability of 45k tonnes per annum

2007

~ First biodiesel producer in Europe to utilise high risk category 1 tallow

2008

~ Commercial relationship begins with Stagecoach

~ First bus fleet in Scotland converted to run on biodiesel.

~ Additional new customers switch to high bio-blend diesel.

2009

~ Pre treatment plant commissioned

~ £1.8 million investment.

~ Award won for "Most Sustainable Biodiesel Producer”.

2010

~ Argent Energy awarded World Biodiesel Corporation of the Year World Refining Association

~ Trials using Argent Biodiesel start with Transport for London.

2011

~ Fuel supply rolled out across Scotland

~ Awarded Manufacturing and Processing UK winner, Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards.

2012

~ Fuel supply rolled out across England

~ Awarded the Green Business of the year 2012 Scottish Business Awards and most innovative green product Insider Magazine.

~ Installation of pioneering technology to improve sustainability to provide a sustainable and environmentally successful use for problematic, low cost waste streams and complete a new value chain from food waste to bio diesel.

~ Successful tailpipe and emissions testing in conjunction with TFL where CO2 emissions were reduced by 14% using B30 biodiesel (Millbrook trial).

2013

~ Acquisition by John Swire and Sons Ltd

2014

~ Won national fuel supply contracts for high bio blend diesel

2015

~ Fuel supply rolled out across London (3000 + vehicles)

2016

~ Acquisition of Argent Oil Terminal

~ Win the ‘Low Carbon Fuel Initiative of the Year’ Award and the ‘Winner of Winners’ Award at the LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards.

~ First fuel supply to customers in Wales.

~ Commissioning of bio-diesel plant at Stanlow.
